Wind River Customers

Rockwell Automation

“The relationship with Wind River has been valuable to us because we’ve been able to standardize many of the interfaces and code and tools from a single vendor, which allows us to be as efficient as possible and achieve economies of scale that we couldn’t with multiple vendors.”

- Scot Tutkovics, Vice President of Engineering, Rockwell Automation

Rockwell Automation Leverages Wind River Expertise to Drive Efficiency

Rockwell Automation, a global provider of industrial power, control, and information systems, has a vision for the future: the “connected enterprise,” in which industrial customers can harness all the data that’s available in a factory automation system so they can make decisions to improve the overall efficiency of the entire enterprise. Fulfilling that vision calls for expertise with industrial control applications, including operating systems, embedded software, communication stacks, virtualization, and multi-core technology. Rockwell Automation could have devoted time and resources to developing that expertise on its own—but instead enlisted Wind River® as a partner.

Wind River Virtualization Speeds Time-to-Market and Cuts Development Costs

Rockwell Automation has a relationship with Wind River dating back to 1999, starting with the company’s adoption of VxWorks® for a single product line. Since then, the company has expanded its use of a number of Wind River technologies into a variety of products. Most recently, Rockwell Automation has leveraged Wind River virtualization capabilities to build software platforms that can move very quickly from one hardware platform to another, accelerating time-to-market for new hardware solutions and leveraging its investment in software development. Above all, taking advantage of Wind River domain expertise and competencies frees up the company’s engineers to focus on what they do best.
